They buy swap and sell hype items and fire vintage clothes too.
Some of their customers include: Travis Scott, A$AP mob (Rocky, Nast, Bari), Lil Yachty, Kendall & Kylie Jenner, Chris Brown, Eric Koston, just to name a few.
The more I watch this show the more I can see a transition that has already begun to be honest. The movement of the 90’s.
90’s fashion is lit. The streets are filled with it now. Supreme and Bape still sell really well for Round two and will continue to sell well because they’re timeless brands. But in the last few years Tommy, Polo Sport and Guess have really dominated the market place.
Honestly I love it. The consumer always wins. Anyone can find a fire Tommy jacket at their local thrift store, buys it for $20, sells it for $80. It’s a WIN-WIN.
I think we’ll start to see a decline in the $5000 Supreme jackets, as the youth can’t afford these items and are more inclined to buy dope vintage clothes for more than half the price.
The market was there, as highlighted by Round Two, but the kids didn’t know where to shop!
Sean Wotherspoon (co-founder of Round Two) is one of the world’s foremost collectors of vintage shoes and apparel. Sean created the Air Max 1/97 SW for 2017’s Vote Forward competition and won! The shoe channels ’80s culture while drawing influence from vintage corduroy, the shoe combines his two favourite sneakers: the Air Max 1 and the Air Max 97.
What sets Round Two apart from other hype, thrift stores is the level of customer service they offer, they encourage kids to just come in hang out, talk about the culture and learn about the items and enjoy themselves. Sean said in a recent interview that growing up he never felt welcome in many stores he visited or the staff were “too cool” to greet and talk to customers. Sean tell’s his 50+ employees to live by the mantra of : ”You are not cooler than anyone, everyone is equal” so treat everyone with respect. Round Two has taken the approach to please every customer and make their experience as enjoyable as possible and that is how they’ve grown. Word of Mouth, it’s a simple but most effective growth strategy – people have a good experience and they tell their friends.
It is honestly one of my favourite stores in the world. I have also been fortunate enough to meet Sean a few times now and his passion for vintage clothing and bringing positivity to the world is contagious!
